Happy new year 2025 from the IBPPA!

In our first blogpost of 2025, Leonhard Lades and Kate Laffan look ahead to the exciting events and opportunities for the IBPPA community. Hope you can join us! Get involved, stay informed, become a member.

A lot is happening in the world of behavioural public policy (BPP)! While BPP is still a relatively young scientific field, the activities happening this year suggest that we are maturing and growing, which is looking promising for the future.

Get involved

The 2025 International Behavioural Public Policy Conference will take place over 10 – 12 September in London, UK. It is being organised by Sanchayan Banerjee and team at King’s College London, in association with The Policy Institute. Get your submissions in by 31 Jan! You can submit proposals for an individual paper, a thematic session or a policy session. You need to be a member of the IBPPA to attend the conference. We are excited to hear from the excellent keynote speakers Prof Gerd Gigerenzer, Prof Linda Steg, Prof Olivier Oullier, and Prof Peter John. We very much look forward to meeting old and new friends and colleagues interested in BPP.

One of the benefits of being a member of the IBPPA is that you can access the online IBPPA Seminar Series organised by Malte Dold. These seminars aim to showcase and drive innovation in our field and seek to explore ideas and approaches that have, until now, been underexplored or overlooked. The seminars will foster a richer understanding of how behavioural insights can inform public policies. Presentations of work-in-progress to explore bold, new ideas are encouraged and can be discussed in an informal setting, where presenters can receive constructive feedback from peers. Upcoming seminar speakers are Chiara Varazzani (12 Feb), Prof Shaun Hargreaves Heap (12 Mar), Prof Nick Chater and Prof George Loewenstein (14 May), and Dr Michael Muthukrishna (9 Jul).

We are glad to announce several international IBPPA events in the year ahead:
